The sun shone bright through the cuts and cracks of the hat that was pulled over the young man's steel grey eyes. He didn't care for the musings of the ship's crew and he had a feeling they didn't care for the thirty-two year old man laying upon the mast's cross beams, even if he was being steadied by two chains. For the past three weeks he had been waiting for the call from the crow's nest and to finally hear it was music to his ears...the signal that they were approaching land.

"The time has come brothers, we've reached it, we've reached Tallendon" he spoke more to himself than anything as he lead the crew to believe. "now to figure out how in the heck we got ourselves up here, and better yet how are we going to get down?" his thought was answered quickly with a deep throaty laugh in his ear which caused him to wake from his daydreaming completely, "wait! Andreas what are you pla---" the ends of the two chains became snake like and let go of where they had been anchored which caused the man to roll off the mast. Thinking quickly he pushed against it to stable himself and landed on his feet upon the deck below with a loud thud as the chains rattled past him. The man grumbled as the chains wound themselves back across his chest, "Silly dragons and their musings" he cursed with a slight chuckle as he put his hat back on.

As the land grew closer the man busied himself helping the crew prepare to make port all the while his anticipation grew. He began to wonder, is the dragon still here and if so where was it? did the people of this land still hold a friendship with dragons as his homeland used to? too many questions raced through his mind and a calm metallic voice soon rang, "stay your questions brother, at least for now until we can find the 'right' person to answer them".
"You're right Saeris, but finding the 'right' person isn't as easy as one makes it out to be. We will have to be cautious on this venture as we have in other places" the man spoke to the air with his head bowed as he secured the moorings.
"Careful you say? when have we been careful? better yet when have we even been cautious?" questioned the deep throaty voice which made the man grin.
"I have to agree with you there Andreas, sadly enough" the man laughed aw he wiped the sweat off his brow. "Besides we're just about to dock, after that we'll work on what sorta mischief I should and should not get into"
The ship slid effortlessly into port and the crew tossed their ropes to the dock workers who tied them to the pier. The young man wished the crew and captain luck on their voyages and picking up his traveling bag he grabbed onto the rail of the ship and jumped over onto the pier. Brushing himself off he looked around and took in a great breath of air, "so this is Tallendon so far it looks like any other elfish city we've been to but as the three of us are more than aware of, looks can be deceiving!" he laughed. "Ok, now where I wonder can find Findrylr in this city?"
"I think we're need a guide to find her" suggested Andreas.
"Yes a guide would suite our venture perfectly, it does seem to be the logical choice" confirmed Saeris.
"A guide?! nonsense I know where I'm going or at least I will eventually! I mean we've winged it in the past why can't we now" the man boasted.
"I am not flying you around this city until we find some sort of sign, the last city we 'winged it' in fired upon us! I am in no mood to have that little event be reproduced! got that?" Andreas growled.
"Fine! we won't wing it" the man sighed deeply,"we need to find a guide but where? and how? I mean they don't just come when you call, where in these land shall we find one?! the man spoke aloud.

The man knelt down and looked at the child, "I'm sorry little girl but I don't have any candy for ya, or this Happy fella". Andreas's voice rang his ear, "be cautious, something doesn't seem right in her eyes"
The man stood up and looked to the glass like sea, "my name's Dalnarian and you are right I am looking for some help finding where to go around here, beats walking around in circles or so I'm told" he said and grinned over his shoulder. Then he looked back down at the child, "so first thing's first, who are you and what are you doing around here alone? what's your story little girl?"

Dalnarian laughed, "well I am no sailor miss I am just a traveler who needed a ride on a ship but regardless, it's good to meet you Syndee". A puzzled look crossed his face, she seemed to be intently looking over the man's right shoulder, turning his head surprise washed over his face as he came face to face with the smokey image of a grinning black dragon.
"Took you long enough to realize" Andreas said with loud laugh, "Hello there child, my name is Andreas and I'm one of Dalnarian's three souls"
The man sighed deeply at his soul brother, "why'd you do that you dolt, I thought the last thing you wanted was to be hunter again by all those trophy seekers" he thought.
"I have a feeling she's not gonna run like the others, this girl is different I just can't put a finger on it" Andreas responded in thought.

"Well actually anyone can see him right now" Dalnarian explained as the dragon's image dissolved into the air, "It's a little spell I picked up on my travels that allows me to project their souls but I don't like to use it in the open since some people are not friendly to such things" he continued as he let the child lead him through the streets. "So Syndee tell me about this place, what's there to do?

He looked as Syndee walked off and sighed, he felt bad about it and thus briskly walked to catch up. His legs were longer so catching her wasn't too much of a hassle, clasping his hand on her small shoulder he turned her around to face him. "Trust me Syndee, it would take much more than that to make me not want to talk to you" and with that he smiled.

He chuckled and looked up towards the clouds that passed over head idly, "I'm sorry to disappoint you but I don't drink as I find it conflicts with my control and alertness, I prefer to be at the top of my game at all times"
"And I don't think havoc is such a good thing for us to be involved in" rang out Andreas's voice from no where.
Looking down Dalnarian realized that Syndee seemed to have disappeared, looking around frantically he couldn't see where she went. "Where did she go?" Dalnarian questioned his brothers worried.
"I'm not sure there brother" exclaimed Andreas
"The child walked away while you were talking" confirmed Saeris
"Where'd she go then?" Dalnarian asked.
"I do not know, the female has most likely gone to start that 'havoc' she wanted" was Saeris's answer.
"Here we go again brothers" Andreas sighed.
"We do not know that; yet" Dalnarian snapped.

He was glad to see her and when implied that he'd be worried he couldn't help but laugh and the laughter of both Saeris and Andreas rang in his head as well as out side of it. The sound was a pure echo of three voices: one deep and throaty, another smooth and metallic, along with his own slightly rough one. "Trust me little one, I am not one to get worried about something. now about traveling I have a different method in mind but I would need my brother's permission" he spoke grinning.
"If you are but so inclined to do so, brother then by all means. but remember that it'll be on your head if we're attacked, again" Andreas warned.
Dalnarian looked down at Syndee and grinned. "We'll travel by wind, but if I were you I'd stand back just a little" he said and could almost feel a slight tinge of confusion. He smirked and rubbed his hands together, "alright let's do this! Andreas you're up; switch!".
The man seemed to disappear within a sudden thick black smoke. Two giant thirteen foot black and fel-fire green striped wings shot out of the smoke which quickly folded into a closed vertical position. Dalnarian or rather Andreas now stood there as the smoke cleared and settled. He stood almost seven feet tall and closely resembled Dalnarian except for the dragon like features he now bore. His hands and feet were clawed, the ones on his feet pushing the plating on his boots up slightly as he stood on his fore feet with ease. His once somewhat loose fitting cloths now seemed to fit him more naturally. His skin was replaced with scales that were black as night except for the fel-fire green stripes that covered him.
He opened his eyes and looked down at Syndee giving her a a toothy grin as he watched the shocked expressions of everyone else around, "you wanna fly?" Andreas spoke as he knelt down to allow her to climb onto his back. "I won't harm you child, don't give it worry just climb onto my back and direct me to where you would like to go, things seem easier to traverse by the air and my wings have been aching for flight! what say you?"

Andreas was relieved that she didn't weigh much as she climbed onto his back. Two tendrils of smoke came out his nose when he snorted in annoyance at the humans and their fear of the unknown and gave a warning growl as he flashed his razor sharp fangs at the man who tried to take his friend from him. He squared his feet preparing for take off, his claws etching into the dock, "hang on child!" he commanded looking back at her smiling face and feeling her arms tighten their grip. He stretched his wings to their full length getting all the kinks out that had formed from being tucked away into Dalnarian's body; the sun shone ever burning onto their black span. The sea wind blew into them gently and he knew the time had come as he breathed it in deep "here we go!" Andreas shouted and used his legs to push off from the dock giving a powerful thrust of his wings. In no time at all they were soaring over the city with the sun beating down upon them hotly. "Where do you want me to go Syndee? just direct me and I will go" he grinned back at her.

Never did Dalnarian feel his brother at such ease then when he flew, the sheer sense of freedom radiated through his entire being. The sounds of startled market goers from below made the man's soul laugh but the black dragon cared not. Andreas almost forgot about his little passenger, he probably would've forgotten her if she didn't adjust herself on his back every now and then to get a better grip. He hoped she was enjoying every minute of this as much as he was. Andreas looked back at Syndee and gave her a grin. "Brother! evasive actions NOW!" Saeris's voice rang out through his head.
He looked forward and banked hard to the right just dodging a ball of molten energy that just barely passed under his left wing. "Where'd that come from?" Andreas asked startled.
"I'm not sure, glad to have missed it thou--" Saeris started before the had to evade three more bursts of fire.
"It can't be, her" Dalnarian said in a ghostly whisper barely recognized above the wind"
"It can't be, we left her behind long ago! she couldn't have gotten here already! that's next to impossible" Andreas reminded him as he continued to dodge the bombardment.
"Remember brothers, she's next to impossible herself" Saeris corrected them, "Wait I see it the target is moving fast" he indicated at the hooded person in black as it bounced from roof top to roof top stopping only to shoot at them.
"Brothers we must get the child out of here, if it is her I am not risking Syndee's safety fighting; agreed?" Dalnarian stated seriously.
"Agreed" Saeris answered.
"Agreed, brother" nodded Andreas.
"Make for the mountains, it'll never find us there" Dalnarian pointed out as Andreas veered and pulled up hard to turn quicker, the fire coming in torrents.
The three of them let out a pained scream as one ball burst smaller and went through the skin of Andreas's left wing and another ball grazed his right wing leaving a molten residue that made the scales it clung to start to burn and bubble. They lumbered on determined to get to the mountains to res, heal, and most importantly; keep their new friend safe from whatever darkness had assaulted them...They swore on it as they flew on.
