PostSubject: Leaving the light to enter the darkness (open Rp)   Wed Sep 18, 2013 11:42 am

As dawn approached the land would seem to be different as they walked through morning mist heading down the trail. With the morning mist it would only allow them to see a few feet in front of them. Baenth would look around feeling eyes upon her as she walked knowing she must be getting close to the under city. So it was not unusual for there to be hidden guards all over the place doing their job and protecting their home.  Looking over her shoulder at Lanna she would give a reassuring smile in hopes to ease her nerves a little bit.

But still there was the case that she would need to be about her wits so not to fall prey to a drow trap or charm. All too well she knows them little buggers can charm the devil out of any one if they actually tried hard enough and succeeded which would bring her mind back to her companion Lanna who apparently has not ever had any pleasant dealings with the drow before.   Yet she had to wonder how far they would actually get before they are stopped in their tracks.

Coming to a complete stop Baenth would turn and look around for Lanna would come up beside her at long last. Leaning on her simple staff she would look up to the heavens and whisper a small prayer in hope it would be heard and that safe passage would be granted.  But she was not about to hold her breath since she is after all in a unknown land where everything is not what it seems to be.

Standing up right for a moment she would look at Lanna who seemed to be full of worry yet she did not show it at all. "Tell me something child when was the last time you prayed ?" she would ask just to make some small talk.

Lanna would notice they have stopped walking she would be standing to the left of Baenth who would have asked her a very odd question. But she would give an honest answer “I have not prayed in a long time.” She would say. “What? Makes you ask such a question.” She replied in kind. A cold chill would go up her spin as she would get the odd feeling they a being watched as well she would rest her hand on Beanth and place a hand on her chest as she looked forward seeing a pair of large majestic gates a head of them only a short distance away.

"Is that what I think it is?" she would say softly looking over at Baenth who seemed to also be looking at the gates as well. Taking a step forward she would stop just a few inches away from the cleric. Shaking her head she could not help but shiver something was not right about this place. "Baenth maybe we should just head to the main city? I think it would be safer in the end." she would say faintly.

Baenth would look at Lanna who would have taken a few steps past her seeing the large gates ahead of them both. She would out reach her staff and block Lanna from taking any more steps for the time being. “I ask because its small talk something to ease the mind from the current state of chaos that it’s in, without a clear mind one would simply miss judge or have second thoughts about what they are doing. So I need you to be focused on the task at hand. For where we are going is untold dangers and who knows what lurks around the corner. For even now we are being watched by guards whose only job it’s to protect this place with their lives.” She would say in softly.  Bringing her staff back to her side she would get a wave of dizziness and slump to the ground as she would feel light headed and tired so suddenly.  Her mind would reflect back on to memories from when she was a child and how she was raised by elves and not drow.

She would close her eyes to try and control the shaking of her own body, but it would avail her not for this time it was a serious hindrance for her. Looking up at Lanna her nose would have a trail of crimson blood dripping from it reaching for a cloth on the inside of her robes she would pull out a white cloth that would have a few drops of blood on it and would wipe her nose with it trying to get the bleeding to stop. The sickness she carries would show no mercy at times and other times it would be just fine but it looks as if today was going to be a long hard road as long as she felt ill. Nausea would hit her next forcing her to kneel a bit to regain control of herself as she would whisper “Not now” she would say faintly.

It was too soon for her to just lay down and die she was not ready and to many people still needed her help so growling softly just low enough where Lanna would not hear she would force herself to stand up again and fight the need for sleep. Simply because it’s too dangerous to sleep here, and now when the task at hand is more important than herself.  Taking a few steps Baenth would look to Lanna once more and for the first time in a long time she would see a light a light that not many people hold any more that light being called innocence. A smile would cross her lips she knew that Lanna was no saint but she however was still innocent enough to have hope with her at times like this.

“Come on Lanna we are almost there now its just down the road a bit we can make it” she would say trying to sound cheerful and yet dread is what she mostly felt now a foreboding  feeling that was trying to overwhelm her at the same time. Or was it just simply the illness trying to do its best to slow her down and stop her from achieving her goal. Either way she was ready to keep going her steps would be light as if walking on air as she and Lanna moved closer to the gate.

Richter Broke silence and he laughed, OH GODS be praised how deeply he laughed. The sound was a sudden startle tot he pair less then five feet form him. It was a deep, highly amused laugh filled with years of disbelief at the words spoken so near to his elongated ears. “OH MY Goddess” He chuckled still hidden form view “That has got to be the best and the very worst question I have heard in a century” His accent foreign, even in this large empire. With a clapping sound as two gloved hand came together several times he applauded the words from the women and rounded the trunk of the tree he'd been behind.

“Oh how simple doth roam the minds of those unburdened by knowledge” He insulted them as he moved fully into view. His stark black doublet faded to a crimson like flame at the edges on every hem, stitched in white, and glossed over with something that made it seem to reflect light even in the gloom of fog they found them selves in. A very large bastard sword hung from an over simple strap and hook on his back, edges, sharpened sai's tucked into his belt near the large ring and buckle he wore off center.

He tucked his thumbs into his belt and shook his head once more before looking upward to meet the gazes of the traveling women on the trail side. He bore no shirt it seemed under his sir coat, and although he looked slightly elvish he had goosebumps from the morning chill. A thick, dark red scarf was worn as a mask over his mouth and trailed over one shoulder behind him as he stood proudly for them to see. Richter was no Drow, and a very careful inspection would revel he was no Elf either. At least no elf from this world.

“When last did you pray?” he repeated as he flicked his head moving his black hair with red dyed tips form his eyes. “Men and women and elves Pray daily, the truth of it is a different question “He paused and his eyes twinkled lightly as morning dew dripped around them “When last did a Deity ever bother to listen to the pitiful mewling of mortal lives?” He cocked his head aside and weighed the motions of the women, these pitiful creatures were no threat to him. This was nothing but a simple pair of mice staring down a hungry fox.

The second Baenth heard the clapping she would cast the spell sanctuary around her and Lanna keeping them safe as long as they make no physical attacks the doom would stay up and keep them from harm. “Who are you?” she would ask ignoring the insult for the time being. Baenth watched his movements like a hawk as well as she watched the young princess.  She was in no condition to fight at this moment and she knew it so she could only hope that he would leave them be and move on.

Still she gave a look over to Lanna who seemed to be very up tight and agitated by this man yet she said nothing to him just glared at him. Baenth would size him up again before putting a hand on Lanna and casting a second spell called calm emotions.  Her body would rest against the staff as she looked him over his words hallow like that of a dead tree as he spoke. Yet she felt no need for a response to him and yet she sees him as a threat. Only worried for the safety of Lanna she would place herself in front of Lanna with ease.

“I ask you again stranger what dose thou want? And who are thou? “ she would ask looking at him her eyes never leaving his for a second as she knows that the second they do it could mean trouble for both of them. Trouble just what she needed today along with being ill and stick to the stomach with her illness. But the real question was how dangerous is this man before them. She began to wonder if she could get Lanna to safety and back to the palace before anything else happened.

"The Gods/Goddess are always listening to our prayers. Its just a matter of how we receive the answer that counts. For they love their children at all times and only wish for them to grow in to grace under there teachings." she would say answering his sarcastic yet straight forward question.

Lanna would look at Baenth who has casted two spells without so much as a word being spoke seeing the doom come up around them both she would blink for a second before shaking her head. She would notice that Baenth had placed herself between her and the stranger as if giving her enough room to run if the need arises. Lanna would think about what to say when she suddenly felt calm for a moment. Looking around the morning dew would soak the ground as the sun would rise a little higher in the sky. Sighing softly she would say nothing for a moment as she listened to the answer that was given yet she found herself lost for the time being not sure as what to say or what would be appropriate to say. Still she felt the strong need to argue with this man but she would see the wisdom in staying silent for the time being . Thinking in the back of her mind she would wish that she was back at the palace beside Thalos helping him out with the problems going on but no she wanted to help any way she could so she decided to go find this cleric who is sick and may not even live long enough to fight the undead. Still she could see the resolve of the cleric who is standing firm and tall before them both her faith in her deity must be strong for she has this odd glow about her.

PostSubject: Re: Leaving the light to enter the darkness (open Rp)   Wed Sep 18, 2013 1:39 pm

“My wants are not my own and my tasks are not of my need. My very existence is not mine to control” He answered Cryptically, but that evil statement would only hang alone in the air around them for so long before he raised his arms out to either side of him. Up and up they moved until this fingers stood as far from each other as possible and with one more radiating clap purple and green and black flames covered over his body. It would be impossibly to tell through their inky colors but they never actually touched his skin as they moved about him.

“The divines as they like to call them selves are no more moral then those on this plane, they walk and talk and fluff and bluff, but when it comes down to it they are as impotent as a great grandfather. Worthless, hopeless, and entirely a waste of time. I have crushed pious, shameless, virtuous and vice filled with equal ease. Thousands of men have cried out and begged the divine to help them in their last worldly moments. They have offered themselves false hope that at any moment some creature calling itself all powerful and immortal would come and save them.”

As he spoke the flames seemingly licking at his flesh races around the dew filled earth and encircled Baenth and Lanna. True they stayed outside her protective bubble for now, but how long until the very earth began to blaze would it be before they crept inside and consumed them as they grew and grew. Flames there were inches high at first were now feet. And still growing higher and higher behind and beside them. Only staying short between them and this being that stopped their march.

“The so called deities worshiped in this plane are nothing. Ageless maybe, but powerless sociopaths bent on narcissistic, insanity.” Richter laughed as he spoke “Even now countless lesser's beg and plead, they pray and sacrifice and whimper. Their very empire is overrun by foul undead, evil blood drinkers and wicked necromancers. And yet no matter how many prayers are sent up not a single thought comes back down. Children. The so called Gods ad Goddesses of this realm are useless, self important brats. They need to be put over a knee and shown what respect is. Whipped, beaten, bloodied and made to atone for their Selfishness.”

He smiled and the flames crawled inwards shrinking their diameter until they started to crawl upwards just outside of the dome around the females. “A Whore of the gods, and a princess by use of her body travel towards the Underdark together and for what? To seek the aid of the cursed elves of ebony skin?” He shook his head “A waste of time, the true heir of this land has already bade them to come help and implored them at great cost to come do as they did best.... Yet they do not move at a speed that will help anyone other than themselves.” He would turn around as if to look around and offer then an opening to use against him as he spoke still, but in truth with his all seeing eye it did not matter how he faced, he saw them perfectly. “Thy gods are children with ant farms. They are bratty, snobby youths that thik in their self important delusions that they are powerful... “

Watching the flames dance around the doom would be intense as Baenth would listen to his words that are cold and harsh unfeeling and empty. Hearing the words whore among other insults would cause her to feel a ting of anger as she would push the doom out wider as it still maintained its strength. “We are not here to ask for aid for the empire so you are mistake there.” Baenth would say to him still calm as can be. She looked over at Lanna who would seem to be ready for a fight as well but she knows that his opening for a strike would cause the doom to vanish and they would be open for an all-out assault. “Stay calm Lanna.” She would say. Looking back to the man before her she would eye him for a moment. “I won’t hear your blasphemy against the Gods” She would say softly.

Her eyes would grow dark as she looked at him for a moment longer as the doom would keep and it would stay that way as long as Lanna keep her temper under control. “You speak ill of people you don’t even know or could ever dream of knowing.” She would say to him. “You just a lost soul looking for answers.” She would say to him. Baenth knew she had to hold up this doom for as long as she could for it was only a matter of time before she had to rest.  “Lanna I will find a way out of this just need more time to think. But no sooner did the words leave her lips she would hit her knees as a wave of dizziness would hit her again harder than before shaking her head she would growl trying to stand up once more.

“I will not let you harm us. “She would say as her heart rate would pick up her body would shake as the sickness would be taken over once again. She knows that she can only fight it for so long before she has to give way to sleep. If she but could hold out just a little longer not for her sake but for that of Lanna. Closing her eyes she would start chanting summoning all of her positive energy to give her the extra she can muster for now to use it to keep the doom up. By the Gods she had to think of something and quick to get them out of this mess before any of them got hurt. “What does your master want?” she would ask him.  “Since you are just a messenger you should know what he wants so tell me or do you even know what he really wants?  “ She would say to him.

Lanna would pace back and forth in the doom watching Baenth exchange words with the man before them low growls would emit from Lanna as she would hear his words loud and clear. “Your nothing but a puppet on a string you have no will of your own I doubt that you would even have a soul.” She would snap at him.  Her youthful brown eyes blazing with fire as she glared at him.  She would hear the words of Baenth and sigh softly trying to calm her temper and trying not take the opening for a strike.  But she could clearly see that Baenth was getting tired of holding the doom up she knows that a spell like that is taxing on the mind and body.  Of all the things she regrets now is not becoming a battle mage so when problems like this arise she would be better able to handle it but no she chose the path of a healer a very long hard road.  Lanna would move to the front of the doom and nearly sticks her hand out but she would draw it back and let it once again come to rest at her side. Lanna would look him over her brown eyes full of bottled up anger and frustration, she felt like a caged animal just wanting to run free and be free yet here she was in a doom with a women who is trying to save her very life for what reason it was unknown to her. Maybe that's what clerics do or was there another means to this end she had to wonder.

Richter laughed at her as she tried so poorly to defend the pair of females with her faltering magic and the fluctuating dome that prevented him from burning them alive..... or so they might think this was his goal. But that was far form the truth, these green and black and purple flames could not harm their skin even though they seemed to produce great heat. This was hell fire meant to destroy the soul. It had no effect on living flesh, or on metal or cloth. It was incorporeal as the very souls it was thirsting to extinguish to feed its flames.

“Tis not blasphemy, I speak naught but truth, though you be to blinded in the awe of the children to see it as such....” He laughed wickedly at her words as the doom stretched out but he gave no quarter and his flames merely grow to accommodate the newer dome. “A lost soul? No, I have plenty of answers form this plane of existence and the next, and ones beyond your imagine. I have traveled the lands of a hundred realms, I have walked the planets of a hundred dimensions all is so similar on each yet so different.”

He continued “I have seen realms and lands devoid of gods entirely, Banished by the truth of science or the power of their own importance and the realms learned the truth.” He looked form one girl to the other “No man can trust his destiny to any other, we may have been made in the images of gods, in their very visage and crafted by their hands, but we need not bow to them any more than I need bow to a whore or her traveling companion.” He Smiled wickedly as he used that word again.

At the same time as he spoke aloud Lanna would feel psychic thoughts enter her mind that seemed strange, but oddly as if they might be her own if she was unguarded to the assault. “Do it, strike him. You are fast enough to attack while he is talking and he would be caught off guard.... you can beat him and save this cleric” But even as she heard the disembodied voice Richter continued. “The most powerful creature is the one unbridled by the will and whim of these lesser children. The ones that see the power with in themselves and offer no reverence to false powers external.”

“Let me ask you one question to weigh your faith Cleric,”He paused lightly not seeking permission but to make it weigh more “If your god I so powerful why have that not cured your sickness?” He smiled cruelly at her before addressing the other girl “I have no soul indeed it was forfeit long long ago, but I still have will and wants and desires.” He looked the girl up and down “And I have plenty of wants that could be slacked with the young body of one such as you, Be careful that after I beat the whore I do not use you in such ways.”

Staying strong in her belief in her Goddess she would look to the male who questions her faith. "She test all her followers in many ways, this is but one of the ways that she is testing me." she would say calmly. Looking at him for a moment she would give pause as her next words would leave her lips "What about you you serve a master and yet you know that once your master is done with you that you will be of no and tossed aside for some one of more use." she would say to him. "What makes you tick like you do?" she would ask him. "More to the point of the matter what purpose do you have in detaining us from our single goal." she would ask of him.

The look on her face would be one of complete peace as she felt the warm hand of someone she could not see on her shoulder easing the sickness away from her mind slowly and giving her renewed strength. The vigor of her renewed strength would shine brightly as an holy aura unblemished by the strains of time and life. She knows her moments of being trapped in the barrier will be ending soon as she would feel a spell activate on its own and not by her doing. The spell spiritual warfare would be cast as ethereal  armor and weapons would appear in her hands which would protect her from the ghost like flames of the fire that deals damage to the soul. Looking to Lanna she would also see the same armor appear on her also protecting her form his ghost flames that would deal damage to the soul.

With out warning the barrier would shatter sending holy shards of magical energy flying in all directions as the cleric would narrow her eyes and would ready the spell Holy Whisper. Baenth would start whispering in a primordial language of good that is anathema to the minions of evil and strengthens the resolve of good. As she would whisper the secondary effects of the spell would activate Holy Word creature within the area of a holy word spell suffers the following ill effects. The effects are cumulative and concurrent.  As the spell would take effect any evil creatures or people would start to feel the effects and be rendered sick to the stomach. As its third effects would start to work as well rendering a evil person temporarily blinded and deafened.

Giving Lanna and herself a chance to escape the area and go some place safety for the time being. As the spells would take effect she would look Lanna for a moment "Run now!" she would say to the young women hoping that she would listen to her for the time being.

Hearing the dark whispers in her mind she would start to react but would suddenly stop seeing Baenth glowing brightly as she would stand up and start weaving and casting spells from her hands. Seeing the barrier is no more and the flames gone she would head for the woods hearing the words of Baenth she would dart away with elven grace and run not looking back she would run. Hoping that the cleric would follow behind her and to safety.

“Done with me?” He laughed” When my master is done with me then I shall not be tossed aside for another, all shall have been tossed aside by then. When as a tool I m no more of use so be it. I do not FEAR my replacement. No I RELISH the idea. Do you know what I have done? Can you imagine what I still even have left to do?” Richter glared at them darkly “I seek to aid my master in contortion and reshaping EVERY REALM not just his or myne, not just this one. Not even just this world for it is merely one shard, one plane of existence. One single facet in the multi-hued gem of existence. We are reshaping it ALL”

“I am ORACLE, The Death-Seer, Bringer of darkness, servant of the one Doom” Richter was fully facing them knowing his ruse was coming to an end “To the Gentleman I am Miss Fortune, to the ladies I am but Sir Prize!” Richter Cackled again as the Barrier exploded. Bright holy light flicked forth and Richter's mortal eyes were blinded, his mortal ears were deafened. But as much as her goddess stepped in to shield and strength her his Lord had foreseen all of these events before they had happened.

A second flash of light would go unnoticed in the distortion of her spell. But before Richter a prismatic display happened as he raised his barriers and shielded himself form the coming spikes of holy magic. Each one would not be smashed on his shield but redirected as they grazed off of it, rebounded into the forest around them leaving the evil assassin unscathed. Int hat flash in the center Surely no mortal would be able to track a target? Surely the light, the flashes and explosion were to much right? Her spell hampered him indeed correct? No, Richter was more than simply mortal.

Richter was not using Mortal eyes to see his prey, nor was he using Mortal instincts to hunt them down as his flames were quench and vanished. His right hand moved before it could be seen what he was doing fully, not that his foe was looking as she ran away. A simple dagger was tossed at Lanna, nothing large extravagant or honestly terribly dangerous. It was aimed to graze her leg with preternatural accuracy. It would not kill her, or even slow her much, just leave the rouse and idea pursuit was coming. Richter had merely been buying time until this second happened.

Baenth would not be so lucky. His edge fighting sia's were both loosed in her direction, one just above the knee the other just behind the shoulder-blade. Again neither was deadly sure, but both were horrible debilitating. Richter had seen this moment in his scrying thousands of times, he knew exactly how she would move, and where she would lean and how she would attempt to dodge. The odds of her not being injuries in his attack were slim, Every chink in her armor was well known to Richters mind.

And worse Yet, Three clones of him now descended into the meadow around Baenth.

Baenth would feel the siring pain of each cut, The one on her shoulder and the one behind her knee. The one on her shoulder did not bother her to much but the one behind her knee how ever slowed her movements greatly. She knew if she did not get away that she would be in trouble but alas it is hard to out run something when injured. So stopping and hiding behind a thick oak tree she would lean over and place her hand behind her knee healing it with a minor healing spell.  Hearing the sounds of movement she would dart away from the tree now able to move at a much quicker pace but she would also keep in mind that she has one injury still yet to attend to. She could only hope that Lanna would make it in time to get help. Turning and hiding behind a large rock she would heal her shoulder using another minor healing spell.

She knows that she cant run forever and that eventually she would have to fight back however the odds are not in her favor of winning at the moment. Sighing softly she would hear one of the clones coming up on her, lifting the staff she would use it to suddenly strike the clone and send him toppling to the ground hoping she knocked him out. Watching him for a moment knowing the other two are not to far away she would think of how she could better help herself. Seeing the second one she would cast Holy Smite (You draw down holy power to smite your enemies. Only evil and neutral creatures are harmed by the spell; good creatures/  are unaffected.) She would watch as the second clone would get obliterated by the use of smite as she would move from the rock she would try to get some more distance in hopes that she could make it to town before the real one and the last clone catch up to her to finish her off.

Running as fast as she could she would understand that he already knows what she is going to do and how she is going to do it so she would have to come up with away that would not be predictable in any fashion.
